Extreme The First Phase Fertility experts say that ejaculation is divided into two phases with very different objectives. We tell you what they are and we explain why the first phase is essential to get pregnant.

According to a study led by the Ginemed fertility clinic and published in the journal Systems Biology in Reproductive Medicine, the sperm of the first phase of the ejaculate are more numerous, move more and have a better quality DNA that makes them suitable for achieving pregnancy. The work, which was carried out in the context of advances in in vitro fertilization, analyzed the advantages of using the fractional ejaculation system to improve the quality of semen sample.

This is due to the fact that researchers claim that ejaculation is composed of two phases. The first objective of an ejaculate would be to fertilize the ovule and the second, that another male does not have the opportunity to fertilize it. “The ejaculate has always been considered as a whole. However, we think it is divided into two phases well differentiated by its composition and physiological functions, aimed at achieving two equally important actions in reproduction,” explains Maria Hebles, co-director of Sinc from the reproduction laboratory of the Ginemed Clinic in Seville and first author of the study.

When Professionals Run Into Problems With The First Phase Of Ejaculation Is More Effective In Conceiving, This Is What They Do

Based on this, the specialists asked 40 participants to collect the fractionated ejaculate in two boats, one for each phase. In this way, they separated the first and second phase and studied the characteristics of the sperm in each of them. The data suggests that the first part has an improved subpopulation of sperm, with less DNA fragmentation. Therefore, the use of sperm from this fraction can have a positive effect on fertilization and embryonic development.

The liquid expelled during ejaculation is composed of several fragments, distributed in a pre-ejaculatory phase, first and second fraction of the ejaculate. Although there are no definitive studies in this regard, the pre-ejaculatory phase or pre-ejaculate fluid does not contain sperm, it is a colorless secretion of the Cowper glands that is expelled to minimize the acidity of the urethra.

For its part, the first phase represents between 15 and 45% of the volume of the ejaculate, is rich in sperm and exerts a protective effect on sperm. In contrast, the second phase constitutes the remaining volume, from 70 to 90%, and is composed of secretions of the seminal vesicles rich in reactive oxygen species, which have a negative impact on the seminal characteristics.
